WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY CELEBRATIONS

Hobsons Bay City Council
in partnership with
Merethan Vision and the Brown Roots Collective
is hosting a free performance and film night for residents to find out how climate changes affect our own coastal community as well
as other coastal communities around the world especially Pacific Island Nations.

This years theme for World Environment Day is 'Your Planet Needs You - Unite To combat Climate Change'
"Which is exactly what council is striving towards with our carbon neutral pledge" Councillor Altair.

Participants will hear from guest speakers, enjoy traditional and
contemporary performances from Pacific young people from Pacific Island Nations
then watch films from Oxfams 2008 Reel changes short film competition
which focuses on climate change and its impacts on Human Rights and Poverty.

Performances by:
Kiribati Performance group (traditional dances with a contemporary twist)
Lia Avene (Tuvaluan/Australian songstress)
First Verse Crew (Pacific Hip Hop, emcees and singers)
SYK Fam (Pacific Krump Crew)

Where: Hobsons Bay Civic Centre, 115 Civic Parade, Altona (Look for the Big Clock and Flame)
When: This Friday 5th June
Time: 5.45pm for 6pm start time - Please come earlier as proceedings will start on time
Cost: FREE - Open to one and all to attend (don't be shy!!)

Why is it important?
Because Pacific Nations are being severely affected by climate change... notably low lying islands like Tuvalu and Kiribati
For us to make a difference we must start making changes in our own backyard... now. We can create change if we want to..
Are you ready? - you are welcome to ask questions
Information available at the event

WE WELCOME YOUR SUPPORT AND YOUR BEAUTIFUL COMPANY!!

Oi and more importantly - did we mention that there'd also be some good ole Poly and Aussie food?
Not that it makes a difference as we know you were coming anyway .

Please see attached Flyer and Media Release
Ummm - Don't be shy to push the forward button
