This one at the bottom is a photo of the European staff on Ocean Island who enlisted to fight during WW1 and that is a young Arthur Grimble at the front wth the hat on who is the cadet to G&E.I.C. Resident Commissioner E.C. Eliot. The back row is the Gilbertese Police stationed on the island and also the Police band. These Company staff acutally inlisted and went off to fight in Europe and most returned to work back on the island after the war. This was taken around 1914. We also have a copy of this one in our archive collection. It is a very important photo historically wise.
