***Ken and Biniati Arriving Savusavu PM Today to buy EMERGENCY FOOD RATIONS For Rabi***

BANABANS BE AT SAVUSAVU PM TODAY OR ***BEFORE 10AM*** TOMORROW FOR AID SHIPMENT TO RABI

I just had a phone call from Ken Rabi (4am here Aust) as Biniati has been able to book a a car at Savusavu which is coming out to Karoko now. He said they have just opened the road and they plan to meet the car at Koroko at 11am. They expect to arrive Savusavu late this afternoon.

Rabi Elders send thanks to 'Banaban Friends' abroad for kind donations to try and get food urgently

Ken set up a phone conversation after Village meeting was held in Tabwewa village this afternoon. The elders extended their thanks to all those 'Friends of Banabans' living abroad for being so generous and supporting them in their time of such need.

WE NEED TO FIND BOAT TO HELP US! Ken has advised no one is helping them with boats - they will have to find money for this!

Ken has advised that no one is willing to help with boats across to Rabi so we will have to find money to hire boats. Hoping if anyone up there can help us out taking emergency food across to Rabi. Please contact us ASAP.

First Contact with Rabi Fiji via Ken Sigrah on Satellite phone- They need help with FOOD

Ken has just made contact with me now and was standing outside our home in Stream Valley Rabi with his brother Biniati and family. All our family is OK and our houses, one of which was only completed the day before the cylone hit has made it. All Biniati efforts with sandbagging the houses and wiring down the roofs with branches and logs has paid off. Rabi Council meeting now in Suva to form Rabi Disaster Management team

RCL Chairman, Paulo Vanualailai has advised us that they are now meeting in Suva this morning to set up a RABI DISASTER MANAGEMENT TEAM. They are setting up in the Banaban Trust Board office in Banaba House Pratt Street, Suva. We will be listing the phone and fax numbers shortly.

The name of the Banaban man killed on Rabi in Cyclone Tomas was Tuutake Tebeke

This information just came in from RCL Chairman to confirm what we had all been waiting to know.
The name for the deceased person is Tuutake Tebeke he is in early 50's.
He died at Rakentai on the other side of Rabi

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and all those suffering in the aftermath of Cyclone Tomas.

Rabi Chairman STATEMENT TO ALL BANABANS

Dear Banabans,

Now is the time for you to give our people back on Rabi the help they need if you do not mind. Maybe some can kindly give the things you feel you do not need at homes such as clothes, blanket sheets, pillows, mattresses, kitchen utensils, etc, or volunteer to support your own families at Rabi with rations food particularly rice, flour and sugar will be greatly appreciated.

ALL BANABANS need to mobilize now where ever you are in the world! Rabi needs our help!

Our RCL Chairman will have Banaban House Suva opened as soon as possible for planned emergency meeting there at 2pm Suva time. All Banabans living in Fiji should try and rally there to offer assistance, food, clothing, etc. and to assist your councillors. Chairman reports DISMAC team only visited 2 villages on Rabi, called back to do a proper report for whole island

Our chairman Paulo Vanulailai has told me that the first DISMAC team just make a quick visit to only 2 villages and Paulo has called them back yesterday to do an IMPORTANT full assessment of the island. He is awaiting their report which is essential to try and get the proper outside aid Rabi needs. They have already set up their only Rabi DIMAC that will make a COMPLETE report that is expected back within 24hours. As soon as Ken can get his satellite phone link go on Rabi.…

Relief supplies for the North (Tui Tai helping out)

A RELIEF run to hurricane-struck areas in the Northern Division is being organised by a cruise ship company that has close ties to the area.

Morika Hunter-Young, of the tourist vessel Tui Tai, said the company's charitable arm was organising relief supplies to be shipped to Rabi and Kioa islands, and Natewa Bay and Udu Point on Vanua Levu.

Smaller islands of Vanua Levu, Lau Group badly damaged (including Rabi from first reports)

Hurricane Tomas has caused a lot of damage in the smaller islands of Vanua Levu and in the Lau group.



DISMAC official Anthony Blake confirmed that after the first aerial survey they have found that the smaller islands like Cikobia, Rabi and some islands in Lau have been badly affected.

Other Banabans wanting to join Ken on Rabi trip. Due Taveuni 8am flight. Need help in finding boat to get across. Needs flexible charter.

Hoping to find out more information today with Red Cross Taveuni. Will post more details as they come in.

Next major step is to try and charter a boat across to Rabi and work out what it will cost us so Ken can make sure he has money put aside for this. Can anyone help!! We have heard the AirPacific Taveuni office usually arrange boat (fishing trip) charters and have arranged other boats to get to Rabi in the past.

Vital information received Re: Aftermath Taveuni that will help Ken's plans to reach Rabi by tomorrow

**Because of the information provided here on Taveuni relayed by Miriam in the US with her friends living in Taveuni, we have now been able to reorganise Ken's plans for Taveuni leg of trip to Rabi. This aftermath report is from the Taveuni Estate between town and Adrian's farm at the very eastern point of Taveuni. We know now that Ken will have no hope of getting to the farm via car on his way to Rabi and will have to try and get to them on his way back out. Miriam's email also…
