Women on Rabi Island suffer similar fate as those on other maritime islands when it is time to give birth – they have to leave their homes and travel to hospitals on the mainland. The Banaban Women's Organisation and its youth group are selling coconut products at the Northern Agriculture Show in Labasa to fundraise for development plans in the village.

A day set aside for Banaban women to promote their handicraft work, exchange and share their skills was a success.
More than 200 people gathered on Rabi Island on Friday, October 29, to witness a huge amount of art work during the Banaban Women’s Day celebration.
