Ocean search team confident of finding missing Kiribati children

The search team looking for a group of six children missing in their outrigger canoe off Kiribati say they're still quietly confident of finding them.



The children are thought to have drifted out of a lagoon while gathering palms for roof thatching four days ago.



But the NZ Rescue Coordination Centre says weather conditions are favourable and such missions…

Boat found off Kiribati after 16 days

The Air Force has located a boat that had been missing in the Pacific Ocean for 16 days.

An Orion found the boat in the seas off Tarawa, an island of the Kiribati group. Three teenagers, three females and one male, were all well but drifting in their vessel after the outboard motor stopped because of mechanical problems.
