Fiji braces for Tropical Cyclone Thomas

Fiji's Meteorological Service is warning people in the country's Northern islands to be ready for a cyclone on Sunday. Earlier today the service issued a warning about a tropical depression near the French territory of Wallis and Futuna. Tropical Cyclone expected for Fiji heading towards Rabi, Taveuni

Friday, March 12, 2010
A depression near Samoa is now expected to develop into a Cyclone before it will approach the Fiji group in the next forty eight hours or so. The director of meteorology Rajendra Prasad says the system has become stationary to the northwest of Samoa but may start to move southwest towards Fiji soon.

First Trial Shipment of Dalo and Cassava for Kiribati

THE country's first consignment of dalo and cassava left for Kiribati last week. Food Processors (Fiji) Limited general manager Brij Lal said they shipped one tonne of cassava and half a tonne of dalo which were frozen packed.
