EIGHT navigational beacons are expected to be installed in the Rabi and Kioa regions on Vanua Levu to assist ships travelling to and from the area.
Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) acting director John Luveniyali yesterday said the contractor, Pacific Building Solutions (PBS) had so far set up three beacons.
"The installation of the beacons is part of the Rabi Jetty construction to help ships travelling to and from the island at night and during bad weather," Mr Luveniyali said.
"The jetty is completed and we are just waiting for the beacons before we can officially open the proposed jetty," he said.
He said work had progressed well on the island.
"We are also about to install all the beacons and we are working very hard to ensure that the jetty is opened soon to enhance transportation in the area."
It was earlier reported that the jetty would greatly boost economic activities and transportation to the people on the island.
