Banaba's Rays of Hope at a time when our people on Rabi need it most. The rehabilitation of Banaba, the homeland will be an important focus for the Banaban people in the years to come.
These beautiful photographs of Banaba were taken by John Sutton from UK when he met up with Australian photographer Niki Taxidis and Nei Tutue on their recent trip to Banaba December 2009. John was on Banaba at the time to study rain harvesting. Niki will be holding a major BANABAN photographic exhibition through out Australia next year. If these photos are any indication I can't wait to see Niki's photos taken on Banaba and Rabi. Niki was on Rabi in October last October where she met up with Nei Tute. Together they climbed the highest peak on Rabi up to the new Vodafone tower where they were lucky enough to get a lift back on the helicopter working on the tower. Niki was able to get amazing aerial shots of Rabi, pre TC Tomas and daily life of Rabi. These will also feature in her upcoming exhibition.
