During an archaeological dig, the smallest items can reveal the most exciting clues.

And the humble coconut is providing some of the answers about how and when people travelled through the Pacific in ancient times.

Researchers at the University of New England in New South Wales have been analysing the spread of the coconut, and they've uncovered some fairly amazing details about just how far early Polynesians travelled.
