Communities will re-locate soon because of rising sea-levels

Rising sea levels has forced many pacific communities to think about re-locating to higher grounds in-land or abandon their homelands altogether. Pacific youth advocate for climate change Ben Namakin from Kiribati raised the issue at the Pacific Youth Festival symposium on climate change and adaptation. While the rest of the world is still trying to control global warming, sea levels have already claimed land in Pacific island countries. Namakin says relocation is becoming a real issue for many pacific islanders because large tracts of land have already been claimed by the ocean. He says one island in his Kiribati homeland has been split in two because of rising sea levels.
