Scientists working in Papua New Guinea have discovered a new species of giant rat. It weighs more than a kilo and is nearly a metre long, making it one of the biggest-known species of rat in the world. The rodents were among several new animals discovered in the centre of PNG's Mount Bosavi, an extinct volcano in the southern highlands. They were found when a team of journalists were making a program about the crater.
