Nauru signs Australia's work agreement

Nauru has become the first Pacific nation to formalise the seasonal worker scheme with Australia which comes in to effect next month.

The program is based upon an earlier pilot scheme to provide work in the Australian hoticultural sector.

Nauru, Samoa, Solomon Islands and Tuvalu are part of the second group of nations invited to take part-- they join Kiribati, PNG, Tonga and Vanuatu.

Nauru's Foreign Minister Dr Kieren Keke told Michael Cavanagh, there is a lot of effort being made to make sure those taking part will be able to cope with around six months in Australia...
