New arts production celebrates Pacific sailing prowess

A largely unknown part of Pacific history is being celebrated in music, dance and drama at the Oceania Centre for Arts, Culture, and Pacific Studies at the University of the South Pacific in Fiji.

"Drua: The Wave of Fire" tells the story of collaborations among Kiribati, Samoa, Tonga, and Fiji in the 18th century, resulting in the creation of the fastest sailing ship in the Pacific before the arrival of Europeans.
