New Zealand has announced an inquiry into claims that foreign fishing crews operating in its waters face physical and sexual abuse aboard vessels likened to 'slave ships.'
Earlier this month, an Auckland University report alleged widespread human rights abuses of crew members on foreign-owned vessels.
The crews are predominantly Indonesian but also include Burmese workers.
To find out more about what's going on, we spoke to New Zealand Maritime Union's general secretary, Joe Fleetwood.
