Pacific Islanders we have to maintain our unique identity and many youths are forgetting theirs and this is a concern. Pacific Youth Festival Organizing Committee member and Fiji Alumni President Jacob Itautoka said one of the pillars to be discussed will be Pacific Identity, due to the fact that modern times and the influence of the western society is slowly creeping into the Pacific. Itautoka said this will also give a chance for youths to appreciate the diverse Pacific cultures. There is an audio file attached to this story.

800 Youth and 25 speakers from Kiribati, Tonga, Nauru, Federated States of Micronesia, Samoa, Cook Islands, Marshall Islands, PNG, Vanuatu, Tuvalu and Wallis and Futuna will attend the Festival. The Pacific Youth Festival will officially open on the 11th of next month.
