Officials from the Prime Minister’s Office visited Rabi Island last week to check on developments of Government projects intended to benefit the Banaban people.
Rabi Council of Leaders chairperson Paulo Vanualailai said the council showed the visiting team the many projects they had planned, those on the ground and how useful Government support had been for them.
Mr Vanualailai said the officials spoke with people who raised concerns of services and infrastructure.
The team visited schools and inspected development infrastructure and agriculture projects currently ongoing on the island.
“We were happy to receive the officials from the Prime Minister’s office who visited the people because the Prime Minister had promised to look into our problems”.
He said since Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama’s recent visit to the island, the islanders were more determined to work harder on their projects.
A divisional supervisor has been selected by the Government to look after Kioa and Rabi islands.
