Mauri,
On Monday 22nd March Ken Sigrah arrived on Rabi with food rations for the elders, invalids and mothers with babies. This assistance was kindly sponsored by Ken & Stacey's company Nature Pacific Pty Ltd, and fellow business associates and customers, fellow Banabans, and other friends from Australia, United States, New Zealand and United Kingdom.
The total amount that was donated was FJ$3,000.00 which catered for food (rice, sugar, flour, dhal, salt), travel expenses to deliver these food and FJ$500.00 was donated towards a group of volunteers who cleared trees that fell on the road thus allowing transport access to the three villages namely Tabiang, Uma and Tabwewa.
While all communication links on the island were down Ken was also equipped with a satellite phone sponsored by their company which enabled Ken to link all communications from Rabi to the Chairman in Suva and other parts of Fiji and the world. This phone was also used by the Fiji government and DISMAC personnel (soldiers and police) who arrived also with food rations for the Rabi Islanders. People living in remote settlements were also able to talk to their relatives living in Suva for assistance.
The people on Rabi were so grateful for the generous assistance that Ken has brought to the island on behalf of their contributors from overseas.
