The people of Rabi are looking forward to more economic opportunities following government investments on the island.
Three major developments projects were recently commissioned by the Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, a new jetty, hospital, health centre upgrade.
Rabi Council Chairman Paula Vanualailai says, the island is rich with natural resources, but islanders havenever been able to benefit from them due to poor infrastructure.
“Now how do we streamline these into the economic world the first thing to be carried is capacity building, you can’tt enter into new commecial entity if you don’t have the capacity building within the infrastructure to facilitate that.”
Vanualailai adds the government has also planned to bottle water in Rabi to be exported to the island of Tuvalu.
