JUST a year after major council elections, Banabans living on Rabi Island in Cakaudrove will soon again take to the polls.

The elections will be from July 5 to July 9.

Rabi Council of Leaders chairman Dr Paulo Vanualailai confirmed that elections for two council seats from Uma Village were vacant following the termination of sitting councillors this year.

"The council terms of Mr Teatu Rewi and Tebaia Tawita were terminated earlier this year following a week-long audit into council management of funds this year," he said. "The termination was a directive from the Prime Minister's Office.

"We need to fill those two seats so elections have been scheduled."

The post of the chief executive officer of the council formerly held by Molly Amon who was sacked along with the other two councillors will be advertised in three weeks.

well...I give credits for those who have gone too far into this digging. However, I would be very pleased to know all the details to prove of what these hardworking councillors have accused of. My question is if this digging could be carried out at this time... then why wasn't it done years ago during the time of the former councillors who were also accused of misusing the fund? I think this is not fair.... look around the island... there are so many updates..... unfinised projects will be resulting from this act. Anyway, I think we should be more careful with the way we judge... believe me if we want to have a better nation.. start to think positive. People come and go... let us allow room for our councillors to finish their duty. I think as a chosen councillor... he has already having the set plans for his home land. Anyway.. the Lord knows the motive behind everything. And it's true humans are still humans... no one is perfect. Therefore, I wish to thank these councillors for their great contributions to our home ,Rabi. They have done so much in what ever ways but I do not see things negatively in fact to everyone that tries to put in alot to our home land, Rabi. I also acknowledge the rest of the council members as well for their great support. May the good Lord richly bless each one of you. I understand it is really challenging to be the leaders of your home... but for as long as you are called to take this post do your best.... and again Thank you... God bless you all with your families.
