Social worker Terikano Takesau, right, has been highlighting the plight of Rabi women to the Constitution Commission.

There has been a call for the Government to provide reasonable medical facilities for women on Rabi Island, off Vanua Levu.

The call has come from a group of women who made a submission to the Constitution Commission.

Social worker Terikano Takesau said the island has a health centre, a doctor and a nurse, yet the women were told to travel to the mainland hospitals to deliver their babies.

She said women needed to have $100 to travel to the Savusavu Hospital to seek medical help.
