ELECTIONS for a new chairman of the recently elected Rabi Island Council will take place this Friday. More than 3000 Rabi Islander on the island and in Lautoka, Labasa and Suva are expected to cast their vote on their choice for the chair. Eight councillors were announced last Saturday with two elected from the four villages Buakonikai, Uma, Tabiang and Tabwewa. Buakokikai councillors are Takire Simione and Titaku Tabuariki, Teatu Motu Rewi and Tebaie Tawita for Uma Village, Bauro Vanualailai and Manate Tapakea for Tabwewa village and Tiare Pureti and Iekerua Williams for Tabiang. The new chairman will be elected from among the eight sitting councillors.
