Mauri! Can you let us know what bank account you are using for the Buakonikai Fundraising project and who will be administering the funds.
If you can post the details here and I can also add them to the DONATIONS Page on the main site for those that want to contribute direct to the church rebuild project.
The problem with overseas donations is that if they send you Telegraphic Transfers (direct international bank transfers) the donors are charged anywhere between $25-35 in bank charges and you will probably lose another $10-12 in bank charges your end. This is OK if they are sending large amounts but sad to think you lose all this precious money in bank fees.
If you are using Western Union – who would they send money to? Unfortunately Western Union does not come cheaply.
Are you able to work with the Methodist Church in Suva as I'm just thinking that you could send out email requests to Unity Church HQ in Australia and New Zealand to also ask for help. I know in the past that these types of official request usually have to come in writing from your Minister and be addressed to these church HQ's.
I'm not connected to any of these churches here but if you were to get a formal letter done with your Minister, you could put together an email request with attached letter and links to the website to explain the current situation. There is plenty of photos and Ken's video footage you can use to support your efforts. That Overview of the Churches history is really important. If you can work on that from your end, I can help with any editing and getting a dedicated "History of the Buakonikai Methodist Church" web page done for you.
I will leave it up to you all as you sound like you are all very dedicated, well organized, and very capable of putting this all together.
Good Luck and our very best wishes from both Ken and I, and God Bless you all!
Regards Stacey
