Kiribati needs to be reminded that there are hundreds of Banaban landowners who have already decided the future of their homeland and are prepared to do the project themselves.
Banaban landowners are united in their aim to rehabilitate their homeland not destroy it more or just turn it into a quarry. Their rehabilitation plans incorporate all this for the benefit of not only the Island but its people!

Yes Roba, Banaba and Nauru are often referred to in geographic terms as the 'sister' islands as they are both formed from the peaks of submarine mountains. Both island have a limestone cave system with the top 60feet in Banaba's case full of phosphatic rock.
Completely different structure to other Pacific atolls especially through out the Kiribati chain.
Whoever wrote the article has obviously no general knowledge of Banaba and the importance of this.
Regards and hope you received the other email I sent you to broadcast amongst your family. Will keep you posted of developments and public announcement soon.
Regards and have a great weekend after Tsunami scare in Fiji.

No, Banaba is 120feet above sealevel therefore it can never be an atoll but it will always be an atoll to the 'propaganders'... it will be unbelievable if a professional body like SOPAC cannot even idendify an atoll from a raised up island... or is it a reporters mistake?...then if that is the case then I just can't figure out how can a professional Media Agency employ people who don't even know the difference between a "mango and pineapple"... simple as that. Unless there are hidden agendas behind the story.
Cheers.
