Those were the best days of my adolescent life. That was way back in 1985 when I was in Form 1 than, and we were the first lot of students to attend the new school when it was shifted from Nuku to Tabiang. The next 4 years that I spent there was filled with good and not so good memories that I will cherish for ever. Anyways those were the days when every school day was always a fun day...smoking behind the Form 5 classroom during recess and lunch breaks. Waking up early in the morning and taking a walk from Tabwewa to Tabiang when there was no bus and going back home on Te-I-Banaba(I think that was the name of the launch). Drinking grog till early morning and going to school half dead. Getting caned in front of the whole school for getting caught smoking in the boys toilet. And so much more.....but those are best kept in the top secret file
Roast chicken Kouara? RHS mmmmm let me think now,we'll for starters best days of my life back in 1988 as a form one student and Atarake was our form teacher then and bunked in a tin shed classroom and Mr Narayan was a principal then and master Takele was our maths teacher and still can remember his famous quote"WORKING HARD IS NOT HARD,DO BIT AT A TIME" and he always refers to a plot of cassava plant beside his house. For the next 4 years it's been good and bad, love going to school but not so much school work and who wouldn't forget those hikes from Kesukesu all the way to Tabiang and back and sometimes when we do have buses running we have to jump off and push  them up the hill especially that big hill pass Rasirasi just before Tabiang.Wagging school is quiet common as well, famous spot, that big rock underneath the hill mentioned above where we fish, smoke, date etc like I said best days of my life.To mentioned some of my school mates are as follows:Iobi Terubea and Iobi Batio, joanna Sigrah,Benieri, the spring sisters Mary and Riria,Mamere christopher and Victor Christopher,Rabaua Sara Corrie etc, Hope they are all well and hope we can catch up again someday.
hahaha...ai bon anne ngkoe kaungan te RHS school...ba are kauringakin ngkoa taai n nanoroo man aki ongotaeka man babakan aine man babakan mane.....hehehe....ao are kimamakan naba te kai.....Eng I think we all have good and not so good memories of our beloved school....the richest school in the Pacific.....hahaha...Oh I remember our gang....when I was in Form 4....hey Benben...are u reading this???....u remember when we sailed on your fathers canoe...where we almost reached Kioa....u, me, Tekeraoi n Ioane....when u two didn't care much about your books being wet but were so worried about your zuki....getting wet....hahaha....n some people got belted after our sailing journey........I wish we can go out sailing again..............
ah, im one of the ex rabi high sckul... i really like to tell alot about my old sckul ays at Rabi high sckul. but to cut it short, Rabi High sckul is a number one sckul out of all the high sckuls i have attended, may be bcoz it is located on my own island, may be, but that is not the main point. the main one that i cannot forget about this old sckul of mine is the batere ao te culture or the dancing that used to be taught to us when its our culture class. i dont even know how to dance or batere but thru this sckul i became to learn how to dance, but i like it and enjoyed it, and also the teachers in our time are so nice and friendly to us students, esp when we need some help, they will be there to assit us. Thats how i can tell about my old sckul Rabi high are mamaten nanou,,,, are etei i ietan te kawa re tabiang.
Thanks Teari for this discussion. I have a very bad memory of my school days when I was in Form 1 at Rabi Secondary School when it was at Nuku. We always board the old green wooden Buses from Nadoi to Nuku every morning but got off at the hospital because we never go to school but hid around the bush until the school's over in the afternoon. During that time the principal was Teiwaki Benaia and we always afraid of him ibukin ana oro. One day the principal told Tanre not to stop at the hospital in the morning but to drop first the students right infront of the QE Hall that was used as classrooms and office. A bon bure ara iango ngke ti katanga te bero n te hospital ao e aki tei te bus ma ea nako n tei imatan raoi te reirei. Then the lion Teiwaki came out from the staff-room with a stick in his hand. Tia bon kuri naba toki burora ngke tia nora te principal. Ao tera ngke ae ena karaoaki ma are tia kaborenaki nakon ana aobiti te principal ao ai bon te kana kaina te aomata.

Anyway at the meantime here on Rabi Island, Aretana Kabure is trying to form an association of RHS Old Scholars so we'll update you once everything is finalised.

Wow that will be a very good idea....I believe that most RHS old scholars would be so excited to know about formation of such an association...maybe we can also think of something constructive like projects...then we can all apply our knowledges in our field of studies...e.g Marine Science and so many others.....WOW I am looking forward to this.......

To start off, i would like to give my gratitude to Miss Teari for putting this wonderful discussion on this website.....
It reminds me of all the worse and good memories i cherish now....

Wellwhen i was in form three,,,the new principal came......that was Allan Hestrom...rules change....
When he came the student get punish for what they did that against the school rule....guess what is the first punishment we had?????? for all the worse memories i can not forget is pulling the senstive grass......pooh,,,,it's very hard....trying to get it out from its root......he want the new ones.....when u happen to cheat,,,u pull double the amount of the first ones.......when all the senstive grass finished around the school,,,we got to pull a large bunch of paragrass.......all those big ones around the school compound....lucky for Tounaia coz he doesn't haveswing his knife in his arms to clean it as we student pull them.....so irritating....

I went through all those tough kinds of punishment until i reach form 7.....there,,,everything change as i was elected to be a Deputy Head Girl...I enjoy helping teachers out and this is where i learn why i get all the punishment when i was in a junior form...It's really tough handling the Banabans,,,,u know?????? Though it is tough,,i enjoy every single thing i did...I remember planning to carry out a project that makes all the prefect of 2007 sleepless in running for sponsors and hosting a fundraising.....Anyways,,,all these ends up successfully as we finish our project for our beloved school......

Of all the mistreatment i receive, the hardships i face, the sleepless i had,,,,i am satisfied since my days in Rabi High school is the best........Honestly,,i am a pure ex-RHS.....i spent all my days there.......and i really miss it!!!!!!
The rudeness of some teachers,,the punishment i had,,the irritating students and everything that happend during those days benefits me and help me through where i am now!!!

So,,,with all my heartfelt thanks i express it all to the Principal, my subject teachers and all the staff of RHS during my days there....
