PRAYERS for better marketing opportunities for the Banaban women in the Northern Division have finally been answered with an open door for the group to supply virgin coconut oil.
Rabi island women's leader Terikano Takesau said the women have started making virgin coconut oil from their own homes and supplied stock to the group's main tank at Nuku village.
"This is the first time ever for the women on Rabi to receive such a blessing of marketing opportunities because we never used to have this before," she said.
"We struggled to market our products from Rabi and it has not been easy for us women especially when we have families to feed and children to look after.
She said the women have started producing virgin coconut oil for only a month now.
"It has been a great success considering that the business of producing virgin coconut oil has only been a month old and we have received a lot of orders already," Ms Takesau said.
"The women are using their own talents to label the bottles of virgin coconut oil and business houses from Viti Levu have already placed their orders.
"Right now, the women are working hard towards meeting the demand of our clients and they are prominent business houses."
Early this month, The Fiji Times had published how these women struggled to sell their handicraft products resulting in limited financial earnings.
Mrs Takesau said the women have turned a new leaf for 2011 bringing to their families hope for better financial earnings.
