TANUA Willie keeps staring at the brand-new guitar he bought for his guitarist son, Tabuia Tanua.
Sadly, he will never get to hear Tabuia play again.
"He was self taught, music just flowed through him, nobody taught him music, it was a part of his life," Mr Willie said.
The 25-year-old musician, student pilot and entrepreneur was tragically killed when he lost control of the vehicle he was driving in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
"A father should never have to bury his son. I cried when I heard he was gone but I'm a relig-ious man and I have to accept that these things happen," he said.
An Air Pacific pilot himself, Tanua said the guitar was a special gift.
"He was going to use it for the first time at his brother Obaia's wedding, planned to take place in three weeks. We have decided to defer the wedding for now."
"He was a good boy. He was so happy on Monday, he started renovating my kitchen and then in the afternoon he got all the boys together and they played rugby touch. In the evening he gathered a few people and they played music. He was in such a good mood," he said.
Tabuia, two of his sisters and an adopted brother were members of Lautoka-based band, Tangaroa.
The group had entertained a few times at the Northern Club in Lautoka.
"I think that was when he was at his happiest, playing music and seeing people enjoy themselves," Tabuia's father said.
