With its Village Space program focused on climate change and its effects on people in the developing world, Catholic Mission has given its backing to this week's National Climate Emergency Rally. Climate change affects people all around the world and it is often the most vulnerable who are affected the most, a Catholic Mission statement says. Catholic Mission's Village Space program, an interactive performance educating school students about social justice issues through dramatised stories, is this year focused on climate change and its effect on people in the majority (developing) world.
Village Space will perform stories from Mexico, Kiribati, the Arctic Circle, Bangladesh and Australia to more than 15,000 students nationally.
"At Catholic Mission we realise the importance of understanding and addressing climate change. We support the Catholic Bishops and their call to change our ways of seeing, thinking and behaving as we accept our responsibility to protect the earth," said Jenny Collins-White, Education Officer for Catholic Mission.
"So this Saturday's rally is important for us to get behind as an organisation and as individuals."
Rallies are taking place in all capital cities across Australia as well as Wollongong.
