Spreading rumours that Fiji will be hit by a disaster today has landed the head of the country's Rugby Union in police custody.
Bill Gavoka was taken in by police after sending e-mails to tourist operators about a "prophecy" made by a pastor in Nadi about earthquakes and waves hitting Fiji at 2.30pm local time today.
A prominent church leader has meanwhile urged pastors not to try to predict the future.
The deputy general secretary of Fiji's Methodist Church says that in his own personal opinion the best place for the minister who predicted a disaster is a mental hospital.
He says when the disaster is supposed to occur he will be swimming in the ocean to show how confident he is that the so-called prophecy is wrong.
Presenter: Bruce Hill
Speaker: Reverend Tevita Banivanua, deputy general secretary of Fiji's Methodist Church
