Fiji poverty statistics paint a disturbing picture

Nearly one third of Fiji citizens will be living in poverty by next year. That's the assessment of University of the South Pacific economist Professor Waden Narsey.

He's been analysing the Fiji Islands Bureau of Statistics Household Income and Expenditure Survey for 2008 - 2009, which was launched at the end of last week. He says the figures send a very stark message.
