hi stacey. good news tui tai can not only help us by taking the books to rabi from savusavu but can help out coordinating the customs and shipping to savusavu. I will forward tige young's email and cc any further comms with him. andrewboyle1965@yahoo.com.au is as good as any. I check both on a more or less daily basis.

I am thrilled that things are starting to come together with this. Again, I am more happy for the books to go anywhere on the island. I imagine it be best that once they see the books they will best be able to work out where to ship them.

I look forward to hear from you soon

Cheers

The books are to be used by whomever needs them on the island. I defer to yours and ken's judgement on this. I have no particular ieas except that the books be able to be used. If that's at a community based library or one of the schools is not a concern of mine.

In terms of getting the books to Rabi, I will contact Pat to see if he can arrange storage whilst in Suva. He will also have some ideas re getting them to Rabi. I will also contact Tui tai and see if they can help.

As soon as I have spoken to these two I will get back in touch.

Hope alls well

Cheers

Hi Stacey. Hope you are well. An update on the books. So far we have packed up around 5000 assorted books and it looks like we'll be able to get them to Fiji fairly soon. Williamstown rotary are arranging with another rotary club to do a joint shipment to Fiji. As soon as I know the final details I'll let you know. As far as getting them from Suva to Rabi is concerned I am at something of a loss but am prepared to pay whatever shipping costs are involved if nessessary. It'd be great if you could let people on the island know they are on their way. I'll be in Fiji for about three weeks just after christmas and plan to kayak across from udu to rabi at some stage (as long as we don't get weather like last year. My goodness, the rain was something else.

Anyway regards to Ken

Cheers

Oh absolutely...do you have a contact number? I guess no one is picking up the phones in the Rabi Council Office here in Suva? It's just that - family obligations keep me from 'crashing' the meeting or linking up on Skype tonight.

He is so busy at the moment with so much happening on Rabi etc. Would you mind contacting him direct as I told him you were the right person to follow up on this. I had originally forwarded him the blog post regarding the project and he was keen to see if we could get Rabi on board. I told him you were already invovled in this project and knew the right people to contact. If you need any further help from OZ end let me know. Paulo has a meeting planned with Suva boys tonight at Nawaia's house. James is organsing a SKYPE link up at 7pm your time, and they are hoping to discuss various ideas, so I'm sure this would be a good time to explain how this project works etc.

Hi Stacey,

Thanks for the suggestion, and I will be a very happy person if Paulo gets in touch with me regarding OLPC. Please let him know that I am eagerly awaiting their request so that I can then alert the appropriate people and we can start the requisition process.

Bula Stacey, this is Tonganibeia aka Beia from Lautoka, can you please delete the page under this name ' Opaia the Man', Opaia is my son and he was not aware that his name has been created on this Banaban Voice, our relatives are confused and they are communicating thinking that Opaia actually owns that page, however somebody is playing around here.
Please assist by deleting that 'Opaia the Man' page to avoid disappointment and embarrassment, ko raba...
