I know, not only good stories to be told but there are very sad stories too.Like this story as mention by one of our first woman former councellor Makin Karoro in the latest blog post when she share her experience as a 15 year old girl. She shared that the I-Matang told them that in their new island there are nice, and secure homes to live in but upon their arrival, there was no sight of a brick or wooden house and so they have to built tents and live in it like refugees. Not only that they got to live with cows!!Some couldnt adapt to the new weather and new environment.Coming from a very humid and dry island in Banaba to a cold and wet Rabi most were very sick. Some survive the weather and changes, unfortunately, others died.
I honor and saluted our Elders who arrive on Rabi on December 15,1945 especially to my late great grandfather and greatgrandmother for their courage and determination.Without them,I wont be here.I know the struggles they faced, yet they pursue to survive.I am very grateful for their strength and faith.
