Water shortage on Banaba solved

PACNEWS  By Online Editor 2:56 pm GMT+12, 11/10/2012, Kiribati

A government project in Kiribati to combat the effects of climate change, KAPIII, has successfully solved a shortage of fresh water on the island of Banaba, reports Radio Kiribati.

The people on Banaba will now have uninterrupted supply of fresh water with the water tank for the island that can hold nearly one million litres of water.

Rabi Women Want Better Medical Facilities

Women on Rabi Island suffer similar fate as those on other maritime islands when it is time to give birth – they have to leave their homes and travel to hospitals on the mainland. Rabi women, who made their submissions to the Constitution Commission at the weekend, said they needed to have $100 to travel to  Savusavu Hospital to seek medical help.

Students access first library centre
